The Australasian Association of Nuclear Medicine Specialists (AANMS) Theranostics Course would like to thanks those who attended in person and virtually at the W Brisbane Hotel (Queensland) on the 24 - 25 August 2024.
After the success of our inaugural meeting in 2022, this year we brought together Australasian nuclear medicine specialists and trainees for a bigger and better theranostics course! By popular demand we expanded our MDT therapy sessions whilst introduced imaging case panel discussions and theranostic consultations to keep everyone engaged. New topics included the role of AI for theranostic volumetric analysis & response assessment, radiobiology and all presentations were completely revised with new content.
Over 2 days, the meeting provided a comprehensive overview of contemporary theranostics practice by a world-class faculty. This included presentations by experts on the rapidly expanding evidence-base supporting PET imaging and radionuclide therapy (including 177Lu-PSMA and 177Lu-DOTATATE) for the personalised treatment of neuroendocrine tumours, prostate cancer and advanced thyroid cancer in a multidisciplinary setting.
We were thrilled to be joined by international expert Professor Oliver Sartor – Director of Radiopharmaceutical Trials & Chief of Genitourinary Cancer Disease Group at the Mayo Clinic – to share his knowledge.
The course was relevant to all nuclear medicine specialists (including those not currently providing advanced radionuclide therapy) to gain experience on the use of PET imaging to determine suitability for and treatment response assessment using theranostics. It provided background knowledge for nuclear medicine specialists interested in expanding their theranostics practice into NETs, prostate cancer or advanced thyroid cancer, with cutting edge updates and case-based discussions highly relevant to experienced theranostics practitioners.
In addition to the target audience of nuclear medicine specialists, we warmly welcomed other specialists interested in theranostics, the wider nuclear medicine community including technologists, theranostics nurses, medical physicists, radiopharmaceutical scientists, as well as an international audience.
On behalf of the organising committee we thank you for attending the 2024 AANMS Theranostics Course!
